OUR STORY

Here is the story she told us that day, as you know, my father, your Great-Great-Grandfather was a world-famous photographer and a life-long friend of the most famous entomologist in the world, CLAUDE PHILIPPE. They grew up in the same village as young boys. My father, Hugh, was a wonderful artist, and Claude – well people say that no one was smarter. They were the perfect team.

After they had completed their studies, they decided to travel the world, searching for exotic insects, and photograph them for Claude’s journals. Claude did not believe in harming the Bug'z, even for the sake of science. So my father would accompany him to photograph everything they found, and then release them. At that time, the idea of photographing and releasing was cutting edge in the entomology field.
