OUR STORY
against the door, nothing.Then I looked through the key hole, Victor was sound asleep at his desk. It was as if he had fallen asleep right where he was working. But I could not make out what it was he had been working on. It looked like a small box with two holes side by side, it was like nothing I had ever seen before. But, clearly, this was not the source of the ticking. I needed to keep looking.
The ticking got louder as I headed down the stairs to the back of the ship. I turned the corner and managed to push open the heavy door to make my way down the old wooden staircase – round and round toward the cargo hold.  The lights were so dim that I could barely see my own hands as I reached for something to hold on to when the ship suddenly rocked back and forth, making my stomach feel funny again.
